The Remnant Arises

A few years ago I spent a lot of effort on research into Mormon Fundamentalism, polygamy in this country (and in Mexico and Canada) and abuses and outright craziness by some of these people. What I found not only intrigued me, but disgusted me as well. As Voltaire said, Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. Atrocities are not new to Mormons, although to the main branch, the Latter Day Saints, or LDS they are considered ancient history. But to their offshoots, fundamentalist Mormon sects they are not. I would urge anyone who is inquisitive in this regard to read Under the Banner of Heaven by John Krakauer.  All the editors to whom my agent submitted my book, The Remnant, enjoyed the characters and the fast moving plot, even the elements of the supernatural, but each of them remarked that the elements of crazy fundamentalism, shunning sons simply because they were competition for women, etc. simply weren’t believable. This was before Warren Jeffs…

This was also before the explosion of eReaders. So, with that in mind, after the successful ePublication of my novel Crossroads I am hard at work polishing The Remnant for ePublication. If you’d like you are free to peruse a sample here . I hope you like it, and if any of you have prepublication suggestions I’m always happy to listen to my readers! Enjoy.
